                                Kevin Ward, MD   

Kevin Ward, MD is a professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Michigan. He received his B.S. in Physiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge in 1985 and his degree in medicine from Tulane University in New Orleans, LA in 1989. Dr. Ward then completed a residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh followed by a Resuscitation Research fellowship at the Ohio State University in Columbus, OH. Prior to joining the University of Michigan in 2012, Dr. Ward was Professor and Associate Chair of Emergency Medicine at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) were he also directed the VCU Reanimation Engineering Science Center (VCURES). Read full biography...

Phil earned his MBA from Wayne State University and is a U-M alum where he received his BA in Communication.

He is the intellectual property and licensing liaison for MCIRCC acting as the primary interface between the Center and outside counsel for intellectual property protection matters as well as facilitating licensing and intellectual property terms for research initiatives -


Alexandra Nowlin - Marketing Intern

Alexandra provides assistance with MCIRCC's marketing and communications initiatives, including writing and editing content, graphic design  and website management -


Amanda Pennington, MS - Manager, Pre-Clinical Trials

Amanda manages MCIRCC’s Pre-Clinical Trials Unit and assists MCIRCC members in developing and managing IRB protocols and data collection. She also serves as liaison to the Acute, Critical Care, Surgery & Clinical Trials Support Unit -

Arjun Srivatsa - Software Delivery Lead

Arjun is part of the team building software for MCIRCC’s Big Data Analytic Platform, implementing DevOps practices to bolster the infrastructure and integrating with external U-M IT organizations to help connect the dots to a solution -


Dan Stuart - Solutions Architect

Dan works on MCIRCC’s Big Data Analytic Platform and Critical Care Data Mart. Dan manages the team’s requirements collection process and software build to bridge the gap between technology solutions and hospital- and patient-generated data -


M. Hakam Tiba, MD, MS - Research Investigator

Dr. Tiba manages MCIRCC’s Preclinical Operative and Intensive Care Unit facility. He advises and lends his expertise with large animal models to other investigators locally and nationally, assisting with protocol development, refinement and execution -
