TITLE: Innovation Fundamentals: Design Thinking

Joyce Lee, MD, MPH is a Physician, Designer, and Researcher, and the Robert P. Kelch, MD, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Michigan. She is a Pediatric Endocrinologist and health services researcher and holds a joint appointment in the School of Public Health in the Department of Nutrition. Her current work focuses on the development of learning health systems through the redesign of health IT tools and using the methods of quality improvement and patient-centered participatory design, and she also studies online health communities and patient-centered innovation. She serves as the Director of Quality Improvement for Pediatric Diabetes and is the Associate Director of the Momentum Center, which is a center focused on childhood obesity. She has over 100 peer-reviewed publications, has served as a Principal Investigator on a number of NIH grants, and has spent time as a visiting scholar at Google Life Sciences (now Verily).
