BaSICS trial: Results discussion and the effect of fluid use before enrollment

Dr. Zampieri is the lead author of the BaSICS clinical trials, which tested rate (333ml/hr vs 1000ml/hr) and type of fluid (Plasmalyte vs saline) among ICU patients. The trial enrolled >11,000 patients from 75 ICUs in Brazil over 3 years, with near-complete follow-up to 90 days. Dr. Zampieri will be discussing not only the trial results, but also some yet-to-be published analyses on the impact of pre-enrollment fluid.
